Quick Skips is committed to helping customers dispose of waste safely, responsibly and in accordance with UK environmental legislation.
As a skip hire broker, we arrange skip hire through a network of trusted, licensed local suppliers. The transportation, acceptance and disposal of waste is carried out by the appointed supplier, whose operational policies may also apply.
Certain materials cannot be placed in a skip because they require specialist handling, treatment or disposal. Loading prohibited items may result in additional charges, delays, refusal to collect the skip or cancellation of your booking until the prohibited items have been removed.

Items That Must Not Be Placed in a Skip
The following items are prohibited unless expressly agreed in advance by the appointed supplier.
Hazardous Waste
This includes, but is not limited to:
Asbestos
Chemicals
Hazardous substances
Solvents
Paint (liquid)
Paint thinners
Adhesives and resins
Pesticides
Herbicides
Toxic substances
Fuel, petrol and diesel
Engine oil and lubricants
Contaminated containers
Cleaning chemicals
Industrial chemicals
Clinical & Medical Waste
The following must never be placed into a skip:
Syringes
Needles and sharps
Clinical waste
Infectious waste
Pharmaceutical waste
Medicines
Medical dressings
Biological waste
Animal Waste
The following items are not accepted:
Animal faeces or droppings
Pet waste
Animal bedding contaminated with waste
Animal carcasses
Batteries & Electrical Waste
The following items require specialist disposal:
Lithium batteries
Car batteries
Household batteries
Industrial batteries
Rechargeable batteries
Electrical items including:
Fridges
Freezers
Televisions
Computer monitors
Laptops
Printers
Microwaves
Washing machines
Dishwashers
Tumble dryers
Electrical tools
Small household electrical appliances
Some electrical items may be accepted by prior arrangement and may incur an additional disposal charge.
Disposable Vapes & E-cigarettes
Disposable vapes, rechargeable vapes, e-cigarettes and vape batteries must not be placed into skips due to the fire risk presented by lithium batteries.
Gas Cylinders & Pressurised Containers
The following are prohibited:
Gas cylinders
LPG bottles
Calor gas bottles
Oxygen cylinders
Fire extinguishers
Aerosols containing hazardous substances
Pressurised containers
Explosive or Flammable Materials
The following must not be placed into a skip:
Fireworks
Ammunition
Explosives
Flares
Smoke grenades
Highly flammable substances
Hot Ashes & Fires
To reduce the risk of fire, customers must not place the following into a skip:
Hot ashes
Burning materials
Smouldering waste
Charcoal that has not completely cooled
Any waste that is on fire or capable of reigniting
All ashes must be completely cold before disposal and may still require prior approval from the appointed supplier.
Fluorescent Lighting
The following require specialist disposal:
Fluorescent tubes
Energy-saving light bulbs
Mercury-containing lamps
Liquids
No liquid waste should be placed into a skip, including:
Paint
Oil
Fuel
Chemicals
Cleaning products
Contaminated water
Liquid food waste
Any other free-flowing liquid
Tyres
Vehicle tyres cannot be placed in a standard skip unless agreed in advance and any applicable disposal charges have been paid.
Plasterboard
Plasterboard must not be mixed with general waste due to environmental regulations.
If you need to dispose of plasterboard, please select the appropriate option during booking or contact us before placing your order. Additional charges may apply.
Heavy Waste
Heavy materials such as:
Soil
Hardcore
Rubble
Concrete
Bricks
Sand
Stone
may only be suitable for certain skip sizes.
Customers are responsible for selecting the correct skip. If you are unsure which skip is suitable, please contact us before booking.
Waste Declaration
Customers must accurately declare any waste that attracts an additional disposal charge during the booking process.
Failure to do so may result in:
Additional disposal charges.
Delays to collection.
Refusal to collect the skip.
Specialist disposal fees charged by the appointed supplier.
Overloaded Skips
For safety and legal reasons:
Waste must not exceed the top edge (fill line) of the skip.
Waste must be loaded evenly.
Materials must not overhang the sides.
The skip must remain safe and legal to transport.
If a skip is overloaded, customers may be required to remove excess waste before collection can take place.
Additional Charges
Additional charges may apply where:
Prohibited waste is discovered.
Waste has not been accurately declared.
Specialist disposal is required.
Hazardous materials are found.
Additional handling or sorting is necessary.
The appointed supplier is unable to legally transport or dispose of the waste.
Where possible, customers will be informed of any additional charges before they are applied.
